Its a lovely sunny day here (for once) and I was able to take photos today of some of the inventory I picked up this week. There are still a couple more things to shoot and then I still have the kid's clothes to do but here is nearly everything found this week. I will admit I bought a lot of cute nautical decor for the nursery this week too..teehee

Hey kittens I wanted to give a quick "shout out" to Twila Jean of Twila Jean Vintage and her blog TwilaJean.com.

She, like me is very close to having her babe, a little girl (cue the awwwwww) but I'm talking days away..it could really be any hour now and like most vintage shop owning mama's she'll need some down time after the baby is born so she is trying to get as many sales in before baby go-time as she can. Decor Inspiration

I've done my very best to stay away from pintrest because I know its going to be a time-suck...but it IS full of lots of lovely and inspiring things, especially when you're trying to redecorate your home. I love my family photos but I am sick of how they are being displayed right now tons of pictures in 1 plain, boring black frame. I've got 4 of the darn things and I just really want something different. I love the idea of a gallery wall...but I dont want it to be organized or match I want pure chaos, tons of different frames, maybe a few different colors, lots of texture and as many photos as I can fit!

I noticed a lot of the "how-to" for gallery walls have fun things added like letters and unique decor pieces..I love these birdcage frames.

I have tried to track down these birdcage mirrors, i found them on pinterest and tumblr but no one seems to have an origin link. So please, if you know where this image is from or where you can find these birdcages let me know so I can get this linked correctly.

This is exactly what I want, lots of photos, different frames and sizes and that little chalkboard in there is precious!

Feels Like New

My hubs and I have been working pretty much non-stop for the past 2 weeks to get the house ready for baby. We wanted of course to give the babe's room a new look but we also did the living room and are working on the bathroom as well. Its been utter chaos around here trying to get everything done and then trying to clean up after everything we've done so far. So here is what we've been up to, we're obviously not finished..but its feeling and looking a lot more grown up around here.

First we went and picked out paint colors, most people spend months pondering what paint colors to get...we literally took about 5 minutes.

and got to it..you can see the original "blue" up top on this pic.

the next morning we started on the living/dining room in the most amazing tropical green color

it matches kitty's eyes...and our stupid orange couch. Its quite a challenge when you've got such a big mix of random furniture and decor to find something to tie it all together and i think this green is perfect!

we went out later that night for trim for the baby's room. I was originally going to stencil on some "rope" details but we found this rope trim so we used that instead.

since we're eventually going to get a new tv that will be mounted above the fire place we decided to take down the mirror and look what we found! The original soft pink with gold details and a power outlet..what luck! My guess is that the mirror must have been put up in the late 60s since we know that the house was also painted a tealy blue, avocado green and white after that.

We've spent the better part of the last week trying to clean up the mess and re decorate for the new living room set up. Pictured below are my favorite mid-century curtains, the inspiration for the green. They're all the colors I love.

I also played a little bit with stenciling on the dresser...obviously I'm not very good at it..so I'm REALLY glad we went with the trim instead of painting the rope detail on.

We've still got lots of finishing touches to do in the baby's room and living room. Once we get all the furniture in we're going to decide where to hang everything on the walls, including this adorable boat..

and this mirror my mom bought in vegas. (oh do you like the new switch cover? i painted it to match the room)

we just barely touched on the bathroom, we got a new light fixture

and new vanity, I really wish that I had a picture of the previous sink..it was a mess to say the least. In total the bathroom has cost about $50 so far...not too shabby I think.

we've also got the pack and play set up in our bedroom.

and..this totally got me, my hubs put up the zombie mobile (from salty and sweet) above the sleeper...so flipping cute I could hardly stand it.

We're getting there, one step at a time. Closer and closer to baby-time. Now under 8 weeks away.

Yeah, yeah. I know its friday, but better late than never, right? Lots of new finds for you this week. Pretty new jewelry and more ties for the guys. I knew that I wanted to go with a nautical theme for the nursery since day 1. I've always loved nautical things and vintage nautical decor can't beat it. I've got a big favorites list on etsy..and well a lot of it is nautical and baby. Here are a few of my favorite nautical items I'd love to have for the babe and nursery.

I've got some vintage seagulls to go on the nursery walls right now...but these are what I would get if I didn't have them. I love the 3D, so fun for a nursery!

I was trying to convince the hubs to put the baby's name on the wall..since I think its so darn cute. He's like "why, do you think I'm going to forget what we named him" he's such a smartass. But instead I thought maybe we could find a cute sign that says "hello" or "ahoy" or something equally appropriate for a baby's room.

Another activity feed find, this HUGE ship is the only ship on etsy I've seen that is nearly the same size as the one I thrifted locally.

I seriously cannot wait to share the finished nursery with you! Today we bought the paint and painted the room. I had originally wanted to do a gingham wall but with the nautical theme I thought the country gingham would look a little silly. So instead I went and bought some nautical stencils and I'm going to use those to accent things.

Here is a sneak peek at the colors...

Aren't they the perfect sea colors? Obviously this pic is when the paint is still patchy and wet. The lighter color is actually much darker once its dry and we're going to be adding a chair rail to the room...but thats enough peeking for now. I'll share more once we get everything done and looking nice. Still lots of "finishing touches" to take care of!

Watch Me Grow...

I know I haven't shared too much of my pregnancy because frankly, I don't want to scare anyone away..hehe. But I thought well, since I'm almost done, maybe I could do a little recap for you and why not start with the belly...since after all that IS what its all about isn't it?

10 weeks, 11, 13..as you can see I wasn't very good at doing them every week...especially in the beginning because there was practically no change.

Hey look...its starting to look like something is happening!

This is 18.5 weeks, found out it was a boy and finally bought some maternity pants.

After 18 weeks I gave up the actual camera pictures in exchange for something easier...cell phone pics in my always messy bedroom.

here is 19 weeks.

20 weeks, here I am on my 26th birthday

21 weeks, as you can see my growth was pretty rapid and dramatic

22 weeks

24 weeks

25.5 weeks

27 weeks

27.5 weeks

29 weeks

and the latest...this is 30 weeks, 50 inches of baby and yoga pants. Not exactly pretty I know but hey..pregnancy isn't always "beautiful".

Things I also discovered this week, I'm allergic to cocoa butter. This pic was right before I broke out in a terrible rash that I'm still trying to get rid of.

I hope I didn't offend any of you with my (GASP) bare belly pics, I just thought it would be fun to share my experience with you, thus far.

10 things about my pregnancy

Here are 10 things I will/won't miss about my pregnancy. I know I should probably do this post after I give birth...and maybe I'll do a revised one but at 30 weeks, here is what I'll miss and wont miss at all about being pregnant.

10 things I'll miss:
1. Kicks. feeling the baby kick is probably one of the most amazing feelings in the whole world..I mean real kicks..not the little flutter kicks you get early in pregnancy. Something amazing about seeing your belly jump out as a little foot kicks you.
2. My "womanly" silhouette. Although I'm missing my waistline pretty bad there is still something very womanly about a baby "bump" and I think I'll miss that too.
3. Eating. Right now I eat 5 or 6 times a day, large portions and I swear some days its still not enough..this baby is sucking up the calories and I'm sure going to miss the extra food.
4. Quiet Time, right now "me and baby" time is quiet..I'm sure when he is born it will be a lot more crying and cooing and although that may be adorable..I really do enjoy the silence.
5. Helpful Husband. I REALLY hope this is not something that will go away after the baby is born but my hubs has been amazing lately. Doing the dishes and the laundry and helping me keep the house picked up. It keeps my stress level down and thats good for me and baby
6. Get up and go. Once the baby is born even running to the grocery store will become an event. Packing the diaper bag and the baby and getting him in the car seat and getting him out. Right now if I want to go thrifting, I do. I have a feeling I'll be stuck at home a lot with the babe while my husband does the "running"
7. Candles. I love candles..I am really going to miss having them going on the coffee table..but babies and candles don't mix.
8. Buying impractical baby things. Ok, I'm pretty sure my infant doesn't need a peacoat..but damnit I bought one anyway. I know once he's born my priorities will shift more toward what fits than what is the cutest.
9. Tummy Touches. My husband loves to rub and touch my belly..I'm going to miss that when there is no baby in there, It'll just be me and my extended uterus..not so cute.
10. Sleep. Well I used to get great sleep that is, until this week really...but I can sleep for 10 hours and still take 2 naps and no one thinks anything of it. I know most people say to enjoy the sleep now because you won't sleep again for the next year....greeeaaaat.

10 things I won't miss...
1. Pointless doctor visits...seriously, every other week?
2. Stretching Skin/Lubing up. I have to put on cocoa butter 5 or 6 times a day..this is not fun.
3. Every extremity falling asleep...my leg and half my butt are asleep right now...I'm so sick of this.
4. Increased Dairy...YUCK
5. Going to the bathroom 50 times a day.
6. The headaches..in my second trimester I got migraines daily..and you can't take anything so it was so miserable. I am very glad to be rid of that!
7. That no position is comfortable for more than 10 minutes. Sleeping, sitting, standing, walking...none of it
8. The questions "How are you Feeling", "Is it a boy or a girl" and "Have you picked a name"
9. How rude people are to you when you're pregnant. Seriously, people must not think about how body conscious some woman are when they are pregnant..but people tell me on a daily basis how big I look and one girl (also pregnant) said "I hope I don't get that big"...thanks. I feel fantastic now.
10. Saltines...I hate saltines anyway but I had to eat 4 or 5 every day for 5 weeks right when I woke up in my 1st trimester to be able to get up without feeling nauseated. I will never eat a saltine again...until I get pregnant again..haha

10 things about my pregnancy

I've been thinking about it and pregnancy is not really what I thought it would be..I mean, I've had a picture perfect pregnancy, really. I feel very lucky but there are still so many things you don't expect...especially if you refuse to read the books..which I do. I've been taking the cave woman approach to pregnancy. I figure, they had no idea what was going on..they went with their instincts so thats what I'm doing too.
So here are
10 things...
I didn't expect about pregnancy...

1. How SLOW the first trimester goes
2. How hard it is NOT to tell everyone in the world once you find out you're prego.
3. That everyone..and I do mean everyone will ask you "how are you feeling" even after the first trimester
4. That you can grow out of maternity clothes...
5. That no one is immune when it comes to stretch marks :'(
6. Being pregnant does actually effect your immune system
7. That I would be hungry ALL..THE...TIME, especially in the 3rd trimester
8. How FAST the final trimester goes
9. That cocoa butter really does work better than regular lotions...go buy some!
10. Nesting is a real thing..and men do it too

there are so many MORE things I didn't expect...but these are the basics I suppose...Pregnancy has been a very interesting experience..and there are only 10 more weeks to go!

Top 5 Sales of 2011

Over the year I sell hundreds of different pieces of vintage clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags and baby clothes of course..well I'm going to provide my top 5 favorite items that have sold this year in each category. Starting with Clothing..

DRESSES

1. I've always loved the dramatic drape of this dress, soft rose champagne color. I wish I could find one in my size.

2. This Jonathan Logan dress took in my opinion way too long to sell, its got that gorgeous belted cummerbund, v neck and back and a nice full skirt..it did eventually find a loving home though.

3. The Judy Garland Frock. My first and probably only "collector" piece in the shop..it went to a private collector who has it on display and loves it :)

4. The saffron color of this dress is a killer, It didn't even last a day in the shop. So beautiful!

5. I love this little cupcake dress, pale green chiffon, lace bodice and bolero. So sweet and the woman who received it just loves it and that is really whats my favorite thing about selling vintage.

SEPARATES (skirts/sweaters/tops)

1. Deep mustard hand knit fisherman's sweater..I'm pretty jealous of whoever purchased this.

2. I know this is a set...but I just fell in love with it. Made by Jantzen its got a full skirt and fitted vest. I can just picture someone wearing this for christmas

3. The "Fish Scale" skirt..the volume on this skirt was crazy!

4. Embroidered cashmere cardigan with beautiful red flowers..saved this one for a long time..sold within a day.

5. The "cowboys and indians" skirt with teepee and fort print. One amazing novelty print!!

COATS/BATHING SUITS (seasonal)

1. Bright magenta wool jacket with beaver collar. You can't beat the color of this jacket.

2. Fox collar plaid jacket, I wasn't the only one who loved this coat...it sold really fast.

3. This truly stunning coat was only in the shop for about a day, white mink collar and all over acrylic fuzzy fur...I haven't seen one like it..so beautiful!

4. This white 60s "bond girl" bikini took forever to sell...I was in love with in from the moment I saw it. great full coverage bottoms and halter top..so so so sexy!

5. Leopard print bikini by jantzen. 50s style bombshell..this is actually the second one of these I found...sometimes I'm so lucky!

SHOES/BOOTS

1. 60s leather mary janes with wood heel. I love these. Went to a woman for her wedding!

2. White leather ankle boots with a nice low heel. They go with everything and went fast.

3. OTK white leather boots with lace up backs. It seems I have something for white shoes.

4. 40s french neon canvas platforms. Perfect for the beach, never been worn.

5. Just sold yesterday 5in pumps with arch pattern that reminds me of a giraffe.

JEWELRY/HANDBAGS

1. Sparkling tear drop earrings, I really hope these made it to a wedding.

2. 40s black corde half moon bag with twisted lucite handle

3. 80s chandelier earrings in vines with peachy crystals. They're so pretty.

4. Over the top, maybe...but I love the large scale of these :D!!!!

1. Leslie fay watercolor dress with original ribbon belt...seriously, why did I list this?

2. I debated listing this. The perfect cocktail dress with mermaid hem and built in crinnie. It was a little big..but it would've been worth it to have it taken in. Oh well..

3. Its very hard to find a princess trench in my size. I loved the details of this one..dont know why I thought it was a good idea to list it.

4. I know what you're thinking...a MOD dress? really? yeah. I've always loved the style but they're usually too tight in the hips..this one was just right.

5. I should've pulled these from the shop, adorable overalls for baby. He would've looked so cute in these.

Christmas Day

We had a pretty mellow christmas day at our house. My hubs' family came over for dinner and pressies. My MIL made some yummy pies and we ate waaaaaay too many cookies. We made a double batch of chocolate chip & chocolate chip walnut, 1 of butterscotch almond, 1 peanut blossom, 1 chocolate peppermint. They all turned out pretty good. I dont know if I'll make the chocolate ones again. I'm not a big fan of chocolate cookies. I did get a set of "A Christmas Story" themed cookie cutters for Christmas so I will have to make another batch of sugar cookies to test those out. The original outfit I was going to wear...didn't fit. Actually I'm concerned it won't ever fit, I bought it for post baby but its now too small in the bust...and I'm just going to get bigger from here. Hmmm...I guess we'll see. So I ended up wearing a dress/tunic I got last christmas that I dont usually wear but its nice and comfortable for being prego in.

The tights honestly, didn't last long. They're not maternity tights and although they fit ok...I can't spend all day in them so I switched to a pair of maternity jeans.

I'm official in my 3rd trimester now 28 weeks..although it looks more like I should be in my 9th month. Its getting hard to find things that fit around my belly for more than a few weeks. I've been very fortunate to have an easy pregnancy, I'm proud to have a big healthy baby an if that means people are going to tell me how big I am all the time, well I'm sure it'll be worth it.

I thought I would share some pictures of our "home for the holidays" with you. Its filled with nerdy, vintage, candley goodness and smells like mint, chocolate and maple. The hubs and I spent all morning cleaning and re-arranging for Christmas at our house. I like doing christmas at our house, to me its way less stressful than having to pack up everything and go somewhere else, especially if its somewhere I haven't been before. Some how we always end up going somewhere where we really only know each other and its just awkward...I'm not a fan. I'd rather have the whole family over for presents, dinner and usually some rock band on the 360.

I won that huge poinsettia at work, I have no idea what i'm going to do with it...but its a nice center piece for now. You can also see my stitched cardinal wall art and our super festive Christmas lights that stay up all year...because its never a bad time to be festive.

The nummiest candle in the whole world. Bath and Body works "dark chocolate mint" it seriously smells like fudge. I thrifted the candle shade (also BBW) this year too. I've been looking for one for 3 years!

my hubs let me have my christmas present early, its an eye-Fi card. It sends pictures directly to your computer as you take them! you can see it uploading my previous shot there in the corner of the screen. If you think the background on my computer looks familiar, you're right. Its one of solanah's christmas pictures. I must say I wish my christmas was that girly...i dont know how my hubs would feel about a pink tree though.

This year I also thrifted this card tree, I really love it! One of those "didn't know you needed it until you have it" things.

my best friend gave me my first wood wick candle this year, i love the deer on it and the sound it makes... so nice since our fireplace is currently covered by the couch.

We got two of these carts this year and we've already put them to good use. They're great for serving, this is a tray of desserts, cookies, caramels and some homemade almond roca and peanut brittle from my bestie and her mom.

We also pre-prep all our dishes to make sure we've got what we want for each one...yes we make a lot of stuff out of cans...so sue me. I do use fresh veggies and I make/bake all my cookies from scratch (like that's hard)

My christmas eve outfit isn't very exciting. Its casual and comfortable..after all I gotta fit a huge baby belly in whatever I wear. I have something cuter planned for christmas...if it fits.

..and my bedroom looks very messy...we're in the process of washing bedding right now..sorry.

My hubs made his first batch of peanut butter blossoms today. They are really tasty. We decided to roll them in large crystal organic sugar instead of the regular granulated sugar. It made them crack a bit more but the texture is really fun and they look so pretty and I like it. Its fun to play with your food.

Peanut Butter Blossom Recipe
1/2 stick/cup vegetable shorteneing (I like the butter kind)
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
1/2 cup brown sugar (packed firm)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 cup AP flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Extra Granulated (or organic sugar) for rolling
12 oz bag of kisses >> put these in the FREEZER the night before (we had about 20 kisses left over)

Pre-Heat Oven to 375
**Unwrap your frozen kisses and put back in the freezer before you make your first batch of cookies.
To make the dough:
Cream your shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar and the granulated sugar together.
Add your egg, mix until the yoke is mixed in and you dont see any big yellow streaks
Add milk, vanilla. Mix until combined.
Add your flour, baking soda and salt to your mixture, beat until combined with your mixer on low-med until the dough feels stiff.
Roll into 1 inch balls, roll the balls in your extra sugar and then place them on the baking sheet (we could fit about 20 on each sheet, they don't spread out much)
Bake cookies about 10-12 minutes, they'll look a little raw on top..that is just fine. Once they have cooled about 10-20 seconds quickly place your frozen kisses on top, squishing the cookies down until they look like little sombreros. Then move off the cookie sheet onto a rack (or paper bag) and let finish cooling. Put your left over kisses back in the freezer for your next batch. Repeat ball rolling, sugar coating and baking until all your dough is gone.
Then enjoy a nice hot cookie with a melted kiss...mmm they're so good fresh from the oven.

Its a fun cookie to make with your kids, I remember unwrapping sooooo many kisses when I was younger. I'm quite the pro now ;)

This week has been a fun one. I went thrifting on Sunday and then again today, thursday and found some really great items. 2 of which already sold in the "Last Minute" sale earlier this week.

This gorgeous furry swing coat already found a new home but it was too pretty not to share.

Steel-blue men's faux cardigan with corde trim also already sold. I'll try to keep my eye out for more men's items. It seems like they're pretty popular.

This crushed velvet dress is still for sale and you can find it in my shop already.

This 30s? 40s? (still need to do some research) knit dress has some cleaning and repairs that need to be done but WOW

I fell in love with this poppy print bag. Its a great size and in great condition. It will probably also be listed after the new year.

Also found this cropped south-west jacket in desert sunset colors a good size, nice thick material. Also to be listed in spring.

Well it doesn't seem like much but there are some great pieces coming but there probably wont be any "new" listings until 2012 I'm going to be very busy with the holiday weekend and then I'm taking a week off to relax a bit. I'll still be around don't worry...I'll just be getting things together for the new year.

Baby Room Progress

Well actually more like lack of progress. We did get it (mostly) cleared out and since it was home to my etsy inventory I'd say that's quite an accomplishment. Its slowly getting filled with baby essentials thanks to my mom and her super generous friends. We've now got not 1 but 3 swings, a stroller/car seat combo and more footed and sack sleepers than I can shake a stick at.

We also finished the dresser! We finally picked out and put the knobs on last night and then I promptly filled it with baby clothes.

As you can see i'm putting my closet dividers to good use. I really don't know what I would do without them. Seriously, best $10 I ever spent.

Here is the infant swing we got from my mom. It is just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen. Sometimes i just go into his room and push the swing so I can see it rock. Soon there will be a little baby in that swing...eek. Just 13 weeks till my due date...its creeping ever closer.

I also want to remind any last minute shoppers that your purchases must be made by Tuesday 12-20 to get them shipped in time for Christmas...I would suggest ordering anything asap! Its never bad to get it early.

I added more listings to the shop today too and more are coming.

My husband makes amazing and oh so nerdy creations from star wars ships and old nintendo consoles. He currently has a small shop on etsy with a few of his items.

Darth Vader Tie Fighter with N64 console inside .....and really really awesome!

Oh my goodness...I can't beleve we're into December already, where exactly did time go? I've been waiting and waiting to bring out my holiday items..and now it seems like I should've started 3 weeks ago! I've got over 50 items to release into the shop for the holidays...so expect a huge influx of vintage falling into the shop next week, probably 8-10 listings per day..or I may do 3 large updates, monday, wednesday, friday. Either way you're going to be seeing a lot of holiday dresses, jewelry, jackets and sweaters making their way into the shop. And of course there will be holiday items for the kiddlets too including holiday dresses, jackets and more. Also after the holidays I'll be starting on some "spring" items...I know..thinking spring already! But lets stay focused on the holidays at hand, shall well. Holiday Pics

Every year my hubs and I do some candid holiday photos in the park for our christmas cards. This year I think they turned out extra goofy. Last years were pretty, the leaves were all over the ground and I was wearing one of my favorite vintage dresses. This year I didn't have as many clothing options because of my big ol' belly but I did still manage to wear one of my favorite vintage dresses. A wool wiggle dress with (luckily) plenty of stretch.

These photos are also different from last year in that there was really no sun out, I usually pick a nice sunny day in October but I just couldn't organize things in time. It gives the photos a much different look to the ones we've had in the past.

Black Friday/Cyber Monday Sales

Holy shmokes. I'm actually doing an outfit post! Can you believe it? I can hardly believe it myself and I'm the one doing it. Sale & Baby Purchases

This Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I'm having a very important SALE in my shop. We finally got the quote for the new windows for the baby's room and they will be costing a pretty penny. Since they need to be in as soon as possible because winter is..well, here. I'm trying to raise money asap to get these purchased and installed..hopefully in the next week.

Since we're talking about baby stuff here is whats new for the mini mister.

PAINT! We picked out the paint colors for the babe's room. They're more "boyish" than our first picks but i think they'll look really nice.

My hubs also agreed to do a gingham pattern on the crib wall. Which i am SO excited for. Hence the 3 colors instead of just 1.

Here is the babe's dresser (and the mess of an inventory room) we're sanding it down this week and painting it white. Gifted to us by my best friend. Its a real life saver because the last thing we need is to spend another $50-$300 on a dresser!

We also picked up this lovely little lamp, not a necessity but it was a good price and looks really cute

I've been resisting it pretty much since i found out we're having a boy...but i had to pick up this Lenox baby's first christmas ornament for him. It doesn't have a year so I'm going to see if i can send it to lenox for customizing.

This sweet little stained glass piece was also a gift from my bestie. It'll be so cute with the nautical feel in his room.

Oh, and I'm FINALLY getting around to knitting. I learned a couple months ago, then i forgot so i had to look up on youtube how to do it..how pathetic is that? But now I work on it just about every day. I want to hurry up and finish this scarf so I can start on a baby blanket or two. Its a great way to pass the time instead of being on the internet.

Aren't they fantastic. It was actually quite a large update. Thats 2 so far this week. I'll probably be adding another one monday or tuesday where you'll see more holiday items instead of "basics". And I'm still waiting for my light so I can take pics of the coats I bought this week. Silly weather being all gloomy.

Nursery Inspiration

There are so many beautiful nurseries out there. Calming and bright, soft and subtle and then there is a whole new wave of really bold, modern havens for babe. I am completely torn between these two. I love the deep rich colors and patterns of the modern spaces but I also love the soft, sweetness of a more traditional space. My husband and (mostly) I have decided on a nautical feel for the baby's room. I don't want to go too over the top with it. There is a fine line between a touch of nautical and over the top nautical hotel theme room. I'd like to just do the nautical with accessories and artwork and avoid big ship wall clings or anything like that...but I am really loving the feature wall idea too. So much to consider when designing a space for the new babe. Here are some of my biggest inspirations so far.

This is almost exactly how i want the room to feel. I just adore the color, its similar to the color my hubs picked for the baby's room. A sweet minty-seafoam color. The pop of yellow is terrific. The crib is the same modern style that I want and there are a lot of great "wood" details.

This little nook looks so cozy. I love the window bench with toy storage. Shelves are a must and the gathering of artwork is fantastic too. There is that yellow again.

Oh look, yellow. I love the bold stripes on the walls. Its not something i would've thought to do for a baby's room. Its so graphic, i kind of love it.

This is gorgeous. Light stripes on the walls. A modern, almost beachy feel

This room has tone on tone gray striped walls, with some heavy furniture pieces. I love the pop of orange with the blues and the natural carpet looks like its got great texture. I've become slightly obsessed with texture for the baby's room.

This soft simple room makes my heart swell. I love the bold graphic feature wall with the little dresser in the closet. Its making the most of a small space for sure. Our closet is much too small for that so i've got two bars in there instead.

This room is so playful. Lots of color and pattern. Shapes play a big roll in this room. Also that little cushin there in front of the rocker looks like it would be great fun!

Not usually my style but I love the antique dresser they used in this room.

Who needs a mobile when you've got stripes on the ceiling? The black wall is kind of dark for me but again its got that gorgeous modern crib i so adore and the mid-century inspired orange chair is pretty amazing.

Awww, i think i picked this room just for that rocking-lamb. Isn't he darling?

This room is very simple but still makes a really great statement. I love the accent over the crib. I think its probably better for a girl's room than a boy's room but its really sweet.

this is the crib i've been drooling over. MODA by Di Vinci. I love the chunky espresso feet and the even sides. My hubs would prefer a more traditional one..but this is right up my alley.

This knit poof is so cute! I would be an amazing addition to the babe's room. So fun to sit on for story time or crawl all over. Nice and soft so he wont hurt himself like he could on a traditional ottoman. My only problem is the price, nearly $300 for 1 of them. Maybe if I weren't on a strict budget.

I very much love this hand woven rug from mrsginther great mix of colors and i'm sure the texture is amazing! Great accent rug for a babe's room i think. I just wish they came in larger sizes, this one is only 27in across.

These sling style book shelves from Target are adorable, My grandma has some similar in her daycare. I love that you can customize them. Great way to store lots of books and I have a feeling we'll have lots of books!

I also really really like this shelf for toy storage, isn't that darling. Totes are a great way to keep little ones organized and small toys (like legos) that can look really messy, out of sight. Also from Target.

I'll also probably be ordering one of these. I think they're really sweet keepsakes and when he's big I can go in and remember once he was only so-and-so inches long. And probably cry about how my baby is all grown up.

Those are some of my favorites. We're still undecided for a paint color. My husband picked a light minty color and I picked a dark ocean water color. Right now the room is a dull baby blue and that just isn't going to work for us. I want all white furniture or white with mocha/deep brown accents. My bestest buddy is gifting us a dresser from her grandmother or great grandmother and i'm going to paint that white and replace the knobs with something more kid friendly than the pull-rings that it has currently. Oh I cannot wait to get started on the baby's room...but first we MUST replace those old, drafty windows and hopefully before it snows!

Today was not very lucrative in the dress/sweater division..but I did find a whole mess of jackets and coats for the shop...and who doesn't like that? From classic 50 open swing coats to cropped 70s rabbit fur. Then of course you know I was shopping for the little bean, well i guess he's not so little now..how about string bean. Found him some classic 70s jumpsuits and overalls. Plus he got a present from grandpa in the mail too. :)
